When schools are looking for simple, structured ways to support student behavior, Check-In Check-Out (CICO) is one of the most effective Tier 2 strategies available. At the heart of this approach is a straightforward tool: the CICO sheet, also known as a daily pointsheet.

What Is a Check-In Check-Out Pointsheet?

A CICO pointsheet is a daily form that helps track a student’s behavior across different parts of their school day. It includes:

  • The school’s behavior expectations (e.g., Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe)
  • A scoring system or rating scale (usually a 0–2 or 1–3 scale)
  • Scoring intervals for each class period or activity
  • Space for teacher feedback, student reflection, and parent/guardian signature

This sheet provides a structure for regular feedback, helps students stay focused on goals, and creates a clear record of progress.
